800 of 981 fields have already been sampled as part of our monitoring. So far, we have taken samples almost exclusively from grain fields. Now there are still some locations scheduled in southern Germany.
What is striking about the sampling so far?
- The great drought in some areas, especially in the east and northeast.
- The partially high infestation with rye grasses and brome grass (on the surface) is surprising.
- Mixed weeds of rye grass and black grass, brome grass and black grass and, in individual cases, also silky bent grass and black grass, occur in some cases after a spring grass treatment.
After completion of the work on grains, we will immediately proceed with taking samples from beet and corn fields. Further information about our monitoring can be found here.
And finally, a few photos:
Black grass along with other grasses (here Silky bent grass) was observed more frequently than expected. In almost all cases, grasses were treated in the spring. In the north and east you can often see mulched spots on the problem areas. Frequently seen: infestation with Chervil in the grain. Even weeds are not immune to disease. Here: Black grass with ergot infestation. Fortunately rather the exception: heavy infestation with Black grass in the field.
